The grass winding film provides the best conditions for silage, locks the feed in the best humidity conditions, and ensures the airtight fermentation conditions. Fermentation under anaerobic conditions must be carried out in a closed environment.

Lactobacillus in feed ferments carbohydrates (plant sugar) to produce lactic acid and other acids.

The pH value decreases, and the fermentation stops after 2-4 weeks. The low pH value prevents the further formation of bacteria. The target pH value is<5.

Carbohydrates affect fermentation. Grass and corn are the easiest to ferment, while alfalfa takes a long time.

The resulting silage is a stable and nutritious feed.

The humidity is very important for the silage of grass wrapped with film.

The feed humidity should be kept at 40-60%. If it is more than 75%, it will not ferment. If it is less than 60%, it will lead to slow fermentation and sour butyric acid production.

When the hay bales are frozen, the liquid at the bottom of the bales is accumulated. 50% is a good humidity condition. Less than 40% will lead to extremely low fermentation and mildew.

It is difficult to form a tight and airtight hay bundle. The humidity can be measured by the heat loss after heating in the microwave oven, or can be judged by the naked eye based on experience.
